I didn’t start in business. I went to college on a pre-med track and earned acceptance into a medical program, but ultimately chose a different path, committing myself to a career as a first responder. After a long and competitive process, I earned my place in the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

I loved the work. I loved the people. But over time, the reality became impossible to ignore. Constant overtime, forced recalls, and the relentless pace made it clear how little control I truly had over my time, my income, and my long-term health. Over a 14-year first responder career, I lost 23 colleagues to cancer, heart and pulmonary trauma, suicide, and line-of-duty incidents.

The moment that changed everything came not longer after I had just recovered from a back injury - walking into the station to clean out a colleague’s dorm room after he passed overnight. That broke something open in me. I knew I didn’t want that ending. And I knew I wanted more for my life, my family, and my future.

I found e-commerce just before the pandemic and learned the hard way through failure, iteration, and expensive mistakes. After multiple failed ventures, I committed fully. That’s when everything changed.

I took my first product from zero to seven figures in under 10 months. I didn’t stop there. I built brands, fixed what I broke, learned what actually works, and repeated the process. After 18 months of consistent success, I made the decision to retire from the fire department.

That journey led to Ecom For Heroes.
